Collaborative Care This essay is about a telepsychiatry videoconference with Jarrett, a 16-year-old patient recently diagnosed with major depressive disorder, severe without psychotic features. Jarrett had attempted suicide two and is now living in a 2-bedroom apartment in a subsidized affordable housing development with his mother, stepfather, and two young brothers. His biological father is non-involved in Jarrett’s life. Jarrett together with his brothers is attending school virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Since my visit with the patient will occur through the videoconferencing platform, my workplace setting will have a secure internet connection, proper tech support, video recording capabilities, telehealth peripherals, and a video platform. The setting will also be organized to comply with the standard requirements for telehealth as outlined by the HIPAA standards (Carlat, 2016). My room requirements will ensure the privacy of clinical discussion so that the conversation is not heard by anyone outside the room.
