Plagiarism is a highly unethical act that is a legal issue. Internet invention brought an immense flow of digital information as the bulk of data is available on digital platforms. Every day thousands of websites are optimizing digital content but so many articles are plagiarized. Plagiarizing can be defined as using or stealing someone else digital content and passing it as self-written content.
These days multiple methods of plagiarizing are available in which there can be no similarity index. The associated risks with plagiarism from digital sources can be a breach of content integrity, accusation of unethical and unprofessional behavior, legal action for stealing someone’s work, and also a form of dishonesty on digital sources. Plagiarism from digital sources can also bring penalties due to violations of the ethical code of conduct (Troppello, 2016).
At the professional level, involving in plagiarism activity can bring high damage to the employee’s reputation (George, 2021). A person who wants a successful career must avoid the consequences of stealing someone’s work on a digital platform or avoid copyright infringement (George, 2021). No organization wants to work with an employee who is engaged in unethical dealings and dishonesty.
For future career success, plagiarism concerns can bring a negative impact on hiring possibilities, job sustainability, work potential, client contracts, workplace connections, potential earnings, and revenue. In the hiring process, it is becoming a major trend that the recruitment committee checks the employee’s background and reputation. Involvement in plagiarism activities can limit the growth opportunities for a person due to loss of reputation (Copy leaks, 2018). The practicing license can be sealed or there can be imprisonment in case of copyright infringement which means potential opportunities for future career success will be damaged (Troppello, 2016).
