My name is Yesenia Mendez and today I will review the importance of nursing-sensitive quality indicators.The National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators is a database that measures the quality of nursing care.This database compares hospital units among various regions and states.The benefits of the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators `include quality improvement, RN and patient recruitment, staff education, and resource allocation.The National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators focuses on specific aspects of nursing care. These indicators can be broken up into three main categories: structure, process and outcomesof nursing care. The structure of nursing care includes staff education, skill level of staff and staffing ratios. The specific indicators in this category include nursing turnover rate and nursing hours per patient day. Assessment and interventions fall under the process category. Patient outcomes are also used to determine quality of nursing care. Indicators in this category include patient falls, falls with injury, pressure ulcer rates and restraints.
