Dear Gianrico,
I am writing this letter to you as a healthcare practitioner at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Minnesota campus. I have witnessed an ongoing health issue regarding the unaffordability of the healthcare services in the hospital which is impacting the population from the rural areas badly resulting in negative health outcomes (Coombs et al., 2022). This healthcare economic issue is also widely affecting the constituents of Minnesota having inappropriate access to health services and generating negative outcomes thus impacting the reputation of the organization and the healthcare personnel regarding the implementation of effective healthcare services.
The health issue I have faced is the unavailability of health services for individuals having low incomes and unable to afford healthcare services. This problem is creating huge health issues for the population which can lead to death hence resulting in adverse health events. The delay in treatment and unable to prevent deteriorating patient conditions results in health damage which are affecting negatively the healthcare provider’s performance and the reputation of the organization (Hall et al., 2020). The delays also lead to emergencies and an increase in the rate of hospital readmissions thus affecting the cost management policies of the healthcare facility and increasing the risk of mismanagement of the chronic diseases which are converting into severe health issues.
Addressing the healthcare economic issue will increase the rate of positive patient outcomes regarding the care coordination provided to them which will ultimately increase the efficiency of the organization and the effectiveness of the staff members in dealing with health situations (Bhati et al., 2023). It will also reduce the cost of treatment and eliminate the increased burden of emergency management resources which will provide cost-effective facilities to the organization. It will provide affordable health services to the patients and reduce health damages by timely controlling health situations and preventing the worsening of the situation.
However, if this issue is not resolved at the right time it will produce negative outcomes for the patients regarding the healthcare services provided to them and also will increase the cost of patients’ healthcare treatment by increasing the rate of emergencies, hospital readmissions, and more demand of healthcare resources including financial and human (Lahijanian & Alvarado, 2021). The management of the resources in adverse events will become challenging for the organizations and the healthcare providers which will ultimately create a burden on the financial support agencies and regulatory bodies.
The major reason for addressing the issue of economic health affordability for low-income individuals is to effectively ensure the availability of health services for all the population around the globe with complete equality and justice eliminating any kind of justice for the increased satisfaction level of the patients and the improvement of the performance of the healthcare providers (National Library of Medicine, 2019). The inability of the population to afford insurance coverage increases the burden on their financial situation thus impacting their health situation and increasing the rate of health disparities. Moreover, the social factors including the neighbors or income level also contribute to the integration of inequalities in the community which highlights the importance of addressing the issue to produce a positive environment in the community.
Healthcare institutions at all levels are also affected by the increase in health disparities occurring due to the delay in the treatment of patients having low income or unable to afford insurance coverage for their treatments (Dawkins et al., 2021). The more uninsured population the more the cost of healthcare facilities hence increasing cost for the healthcare organizations. The increasing rate of emergencies and hospital readmissions also causes a financial burden for healthcare facilities. Moreover, the racism regarding the provision of health services will create a large unbalance between the healthcare providers and the patients resulting in negative patient outcomes. It will create hindrances in the way of provision of health access to patients who are vulnerable like blacks or Hispanics which will produce negative outcomes for the patients. Effective policies need to be implemented with the unified goal of removing any kind of discrimination among the population and ensuring positive health s
