Educational leaders assume many roles, including resource specialists, supporters, mentors, facilitators for change, and lifelong learners. As a healthcare educator, one must be a leader who seeks opportunities to improve patient outcomes, evidence-based practices, and areas of self-growth. To be complacent with the status quo, an educator may fail their students. Leaders must be opinion leaders, knowledge brokers, and facilitators to implement effective change strategies in improving patient-centered outcomes (McCormack et al., 2013). Change facilitates growth, and as a clinical nurse educator, one must possess the traits of a leader, such as commitment, clarity of beliefs/values, competence, and effective communication and interpersonal skills (Chamberlain College of Nursing, 2018). The generational differences among staff have led nurse educators to evaluate the tools utilized to provide education. I hope to influence change as an educational leader by employing change strategies that meet the needs of all.

I possess two leadership strengths: communication, a positive attitude, and a passion for learning. I feel these qualities have led me to be a facilitator as a change agent. My two areas for opportunity are active, effective listening and the review and evaluation process following implementing education on the change processes. We have two ears and one mouth; sometimes, my mouth takes the lead.
