NURS FPX 4030 Assessment 1 Locating Credible Databases and Research

Evidence-based practice (EBP) allows healthcare practitioners to employ a systematic approach incorporating scientifically validated and critically evaluated evidence to offer safe and high-quality care services to a wide range of patients (Thiel et al., 2019). The EBP implementation process will be guided by the Iowa model, which will facilitate the incorporation of principles related to stroke prevention and treatment into real clinical practice within the emergency department. As a nurse leader with a bachelor’s degree, it is incumbent upon me to provide education and support to clinical nursing staff on the significance and implementation of research and multidisciplinary collaboration in advancing patient-centred care and enhancing patient outcomes. The purpose of this paper is to elucidate the procedure of acquiring pertinent and up-to-date evidence to increase the diagnosis and treatment of patients, hence fostering evidence-based practice (EBP) among recently employed nurses.

Communication and Collaboration Strategies

Nurse managers are responsible for promoting the understanding and application of evidence-based practice by newly hired nurses within their unit to promote clinical decision-making when caring for patients. This can be achieved by first creating a culture of readiness and promoting a positive attitude among staff members in utilizing scientifically proven evidence to guide their practice. Communicating the different approaches that can be used to locate relevantly and update resources can be done by organizing departmental meetings to promote one-on-one discussion among staff members regarding the best strategies in addition to sending According to Nasrollah et al. (2019), there is a need to consider the most effective sources for utilization in memos and emails. In addition to their managerial responsibilities, nurse managers are required to coordinate evidence-based practice training programs to enhance their comprehension of integrating change into existing healthcare practices.

Further strategies that can be employed to foster collaboration with nursing personnel in the acquisition of pertinent and current resources encompass the allocation of distinct responsibilities to individual nurses for sourcing materials from diverse databases, followed by a comparative analysis of the outcomes to facilitate discussions on the most reliable sources (Steele-Moses, 2021). Promoting cooperation among nursing personnel in promoting evidence-based practice is advantageous for comprehending the professional variety among team members and facilitating the acquisition of new competencies and knowledge via peer learning.

Research in the Workplace

The Emergency Department staff members at a nearby teaching hospital are granted access to an online library that offers a diverse selection of study materials relevant to their professional responsibilities. Nurses can use various databases, such as the online library, during their designated working hours using the emergency unit nursing room and unoccupied conference rooms. According to Nasrollah et al. (2019), it has been observed that people have the ability to use computers or smartphones as a means to acquire current and relevant information to facilitate the process of diagnosing and effectively treating specific medical issues. Conference rooms and nursing staff spaces often exhibit minimal levels of activity and noise, so fostering an atmosphere that is favourable to study. It is recommended that nurses prioritize including national clinical standards and peer-reviewed tools sourced from medical journal databases in their study materials. In addition, Steele-Moses (2021) suggests using the CRAAP test as a method for assessing the pertinence, precision, credibility, timeliness, and intent of chosen references.

In the context of emergency room management of stroke, a wide range of studies may be readily accessible via several online medical databases. The survey conducted by Nasrollah et al. (2019) highlights the significance of nurse management in enabling the provision of multidisciplinary care for adult patients with stroke. Nurses play a crucial role in assisting patients in the direction of cardiovascular symptoms, avoidance of complications, and facilitation of secretion elimination via various interventions, such as chest physiotherapy and breathing exercises. The evidence-based clinical practice guidelines on non-pharmacologic airway clearing treatment, as issued by the American College of Chest Physicians, have been reported by Steele-Moses (2021). The ideas suggest that airway clearance therapy m
