1. The students will be taught surgical asepsis and sterile technique Following the residency program, the students will be able to show appropriate surgical asepsis and sterile technique.
2. The significance of appropriate patient positioning, preparation, and draperies in relation to different surgical operations and patient safety will be taught to the learners. The learners will be able to demonstrate patient safety, appropriate use of positioning devices, and safe patient placement after completing this residency program. 2. The students will articulate appropriate drapery and patient preparation.
3. The use of specialty surgical instruments, such as lasers, pneumatic tourniquets, and electrosurgical units, will be taught to the students. Following the completion of this residency program, the students will be able to utilize equipment safely and correctly.
4. Surgical smoke, sharps, and radiation safety techniques will be taught to the pupils. Upon completion of this residency program, the learners will exhibit a variety of safety measures to fulfill organizational standards and enhance patient and healthcare worker safety.
5. The learners will use the interdisciplinary collaborative approach to study evidence-based infection prevention measures. The learners will exhibit evidence-based techniques for infection control in the operating room upon completion of this residency program.

 The Operating Room-NRP is being introduced in this letter to new graduate nurses and nurses who would like to pursue a career in surgical nursing. An acute care hospital with 340 beds serves as the instructional setting. It has 14 operating rooms where different specialty procedures, such as adult, pediatric, and trauma surgeries, are carried out.

The ANCC states that the residency program helps participants fulfill the third Institute of Medicine 2010 recommendation, which states that health care organizations should encourage nurses to complete a program that prepares them for transitioning into the practice and that organizations that currently offer nurse residency programs should assess the efficacy of those offerings (2022).

Rationale

By 2022, registered nurses will have the most job possibilities in the US, predicts the American Nurses Association (ANA). According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, there will be a demand for about 275,000 additional nurses between 2020 and 2030 (Haddad et al., 2022).Errors, increased morbidity and death rates, and a serious clinical issue are the results of this dire nurse shortage.
