The Operating Room-NRP is being introduced in this letter to new graduate nurses and nurses who would like to pursue a career in surgical nursing. An acute care hospital with 340 beds serves as the instructional setting. It has 14 operating rooms where different specialty procedures, such as adult, pediatric, and trauma surgeries, are carried out.
Title of the Course:
The ANCC states that the residency program helps participants fulfill the third Institute of Medicine 2010 recommendation, which states that health care organizations should encourage nurses to complete a program that prepares them for transitioning into the practice and that organizations that currently offer nurse residency programs should assess the efficacy of those offerings (2022).
Rationale
By 2022, registered nurses will have the most job possibilities in the US, predicts the American Nurses Association (ANA). According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, there will be a demand for about 275,000 additional nurses between 2020 and 2030 (Haddad et al., 2022).Errors, increased morbidity and death rates, and a serious clinical issue are the results of this dire nurse shortage.
