Outline of the four "Key Messages" that structure the IOM Report

Recommendations In the IOM report, four key messages shape the structure. One of the key messages that influence the structure of the IOM report is that the nurse professionals should be allowed to practice to the full extents of their training and education (National Academy for Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, 2010). The second key message of the IOM report that shapes its structure is that the nurses should seek and get higher levels of training and education via a system which encourages continuous progression learning and professional development. The third key message that influences the structure of the IOM report is that nurses need to continuous and complete partners with the physicians and the other healthcare professionals in redesigning the healthcare system of the US (National Academy for Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, 2010). The fourth message that structure the IOM report relates to the observation that effective policy making and workforce planning need improved information infrastructure and better data collection methods.
