1. Prepare

The purpose of this strategic plan is to systematically organize processes of an Accident

and Emergency (A & E) department in order to reduce the waiting hours from the

current 7.5 hours to 4 hours at our hospital. This strategy is a process planned for five

years aimed to reduce wait times at the emergency department while ensuring patient

safety, quality care and proper treatment standards are being maintained. According to

Shen and Lee (2018), the patient wait time start from the moment the patient walk in

the A&E department until the they are admitted or discharged. It is notable that the

waiting time of 7.5 hours are critically long such that they yield undesirable outcomes

such as poor recovery, increase brought in dead(Shen &Lee.2018).Therefore, the main

goal of this strategic plan is to enhance the way emergency department operates for

both health care professionals and patients.

2. Timeline

Our strategic plan will be refreshed annually in proper timing before the annual budget

allocation by the government, hence our timeline will be set to 4-5 weeks.

We need real time observation on and recording the time periods of the patient

visiting the A & E department, in order to report the wait time statistics.

Dedicate 3-4 months to complete a staffing and external reviews for our

emergency department.

The complete review of our hospital standards should take place within 3 years.

The training committee should choose a reasonable number of staff at a time to

avoid devoting the department of staffs at least 6-8 with mix skills over a 1 week

workshop.

The objectives should be met by 40%-60% within the 2 years, while 70-80%

delivered in 3-4 years and 90-100% in 5 years.
