coalitions advance the goals specified in the IOM report in different ways. First, the coalitions encourage inter professional collaborations between nurses and other healthcare professionals which improve diagnosis and reduce medical errors. Second, the coalitions offer mentorship opportunities and programs to the nursing students from different backgrounds to increase workforce diversity and this means cultural competency care that reduces errors and enhances patients diagnosis (Texas Action Coalition, 2017). The coalitions also participate in the development of innovative healthcare solutions that can help in improving the healthcare delivery in the states and minimizing the errors. Additionally, the state based coalitions provide scholarship opportunities to encourage advanced learning in the nurses and this improves the quality of care (Campaign for Action, n.d). The initiatives on which the Texas state's action coalition is working on One of the initiatives that the Texas state coalition is working on is the advancement of inter professional collaborations between the nurses in Texas and other health professionals to define the health needs of the Texas people in order of priority (Livanos, 2018). The second initiative of the Texas state based coalition is the implementation of effective data collection methods and capturing best practices that promote the quality of the healthcare to patients (Texas Action Coalition, 2017). The ways these initiatives advance the nursing profession The initiatives advance nursing profession from two perspectives. The first perspective is that the initiatives increase the quality of care nurses offer to patients. The second perspective is that with the initiatives, the contributions of the nurse profession to the healthcare sector become more visible (Texas Action Coalition, 2017)
